Rounded bit
How cool would it be to design/customize your house yourself, and have it shipped to you?
If you're with us, then you should pay attention to prefabricated housing.
Why PREFABRICATED HOUSING:
They come easy to assemble, or in some cases, already assembled, and require much less labor, as their assembly is akin to reading an instruction manual.
The design aesthetic follows the modernist approach.
Prefab houses are gaining in popularity in the US, Europe, and Australia. They are assumed to be cheaper than existing housing, usually well-designed, and have clean lines and open floor plans.
For a concrete example of prefab, take a look at the Lego-like housing built for the homeless of Downtown LA by the Skid Row Housing Trust. The complex is a 102-unit, $20.5million project, constructed by stacking pre-outfitted module apartments on top of another in a Lego-like fashion. It is the first in the US to be built like this.

Toyota Housing: Check!

credit: Toyota Home Japan
Who in America knew Toyota was into the prefab housing business?
Toyota has been in the housing business since 1975.
It has sold over 4000 homes in 2011. It sold 5000 homes in 2006 and 4600 in 2007. Home sales make up about %5 of Toyota's $262 billion in annual sales. Their homes can be built under 45 days, come solar-equipped, and are assured to be environmentally friendly.
The base model, a 1000 square feet 2-story home costs upwards of $200K.
Custom-built versions with square footage of around 2600 square feet can cost upwards of $800K.
Toyota assures that the homes will last more than 60 years.
Of course, they are convenient for Prius users!
Toyota builds houses based on the "Skeleton & Infill" Approach.
"Flexible infill combined with a long-lasting skeleton structure is used to create spacious, long-lasting, flexible houses."
To this day, they are only built in Japan.
Have fun looking!
